On-site Infection Prevention and Control

Over the last eight weeks I have been blown away at the proactiveness of HVIA members in keeping their sites safe for staff and customers. Much of this has focused on increased personal hygiene and physical distancing – whether this be working from home, re-configuring workspaces, splitting shifts and embracing technology.

However, as the situation evolves and many of you can see light at the end of the tunnel, HVIA has had increasing requests for information about industrial hygiene and other measures that can be done to ensure your sites stay as safe as possible.

At the same time watching the situation unfold this week at a Melbourne meatworks illustrates how dangerous this virus can be to all workplaces.

As a result, I am pleased to announce HVIA has teamed up with the Martin Brothers, who specialise in infection prevention and control. They have put together an introductory video (below) specifically for our members to showcase how to better protect your people and your business from COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.

We hope to also bring you content in the coming weeks about the top tips for ensuring our members remain as prepared and as safe as possible.

Last week, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer briefed me on the fact that the virus will remain in our community for some time and we all remain at risk until a vaccine is available.

We also know that research shows that COVID-19 can remain infectious for up to 72 hours on hard surfaces, with surface transmission being a key risk – particularly in places where groups of people gather – like factories and warehouses as well as public transport and shopping centres.

Please watch the video and if you think Martin Brothers can assist your business with:

  1. Sanitisation and disinfection of your property, equipment, machinery and other frequently touched surfaces
  2. Reliable supply of products such as hand sanitiser, face masks, gloves, disinfectant aerosol spray, disinfectant wipes, and hand soap

Please contact them at www.martinbrothers.com.au or on 1300 267 662 and be sure to mention you are a HVIA member.
